Kimio Hamasaki

Kimio Hamasaki, AES fellow, is a producer and balance engineer of music recording, a researcher on spatial audio, an educator on audio engineering and acoustics as well as a consultant in audio engineering. He had recorded and produced many orchestral and operatic works by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Bavarian State Opera, NHK Symphony Orchestra, and other famous domestic and international performing groups in 2.0, 5.1, 9.1, 11.1, and 22.2 multichannel sound. He developed equipment for digital audio recording, microphone-techniques for natural immersive sound recording such as the Hamasaki-Square and Hamasaki-Cube, as well as the advanced spatial audio system such as the 22.2 multichannel sound system. He has many years of experience in international standardization related to audio technology at AES, SMPTE, and IEC. Kimio Hamasaki was the AES Vice President for the International Region (2009 - 2013) and has served as the AES Governor (2006 - 2008). He also chaired the AES Japan Section (2006 - 2007), the AES 11th Regional Tokyo Convention in 2003, and co-chaired the AES 40th International Conference in 2010. He is currently co-chair of the AES Technical Committee on Broadcasting and Online Delivery, vice-chair of the AES Technical Committee on Recording Technologies and Practices, a part-time lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts. and president at ARTSRIDGE LLC.
