Women's Audio Mission

Terri Winston is the Executive Director and Founder of Women\'s Audio Mission (WAM), a San Francisco/Oakland-based nonprofit that uses music and media and technology-fueled professional recording studios to attract 3,000+ women/girls/Gender- Nonconforming individuals to STEM studies. Winston has over 30 years experience as a recording artist/music producer and recording engineer (P.J. Harvey, Pixies, Flaming Lips, Lenny Kaye/Patti Smith) and educator with over 10 years as a prior tenured professor/department chair of the Sound Recording Arts Department at City College of San Francisco. I currently serve on The Recording Academy’s (The Grammy’s) National Task Force on Diversity and Inclusion alongside Obama Advisor Tina Tchen, Sheryl Crow, Common, Andra Day and Jimmy Jam as well as The Academy of Country Music’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Trained as an electrical engineer, Winston\'s passion has always been at the intersection of music and technology and addressing the chronic gender gap in both sectors.
